Introducing, “Random Stamping!”

June 8th, 2010 by Tracy

Hope everyone is enjoying their “almost” Summer! Here in SouthEast Idaho, we’ve been getting lots & lots of rain. Personally I LOVE it! Not a real fan of “the heat”, so I’m good with our current rainy weather. Of course, the rain makes it rather difficult to enjoy the deck or get any yardwork done, but it sure is perfect for being in my studio!

Today I’d like to introduce another new weekly feature here at Stamper Heaven, Random Stamping!

In the Random Stamping feature, I’ll be showcasing projects that are inspired by, well, random things! Unlike Scraps ‘n Stash, the projects in Random Stamping will be from scratch, and may or may not be be with anything in particular in mind.

Today’s card is based on a card sketch by Heather Scott for our May Scott Swap. (A group of us TAC demonstrators have been swaping each month for over 7 years now!)

For this card I used the following TAC supplies:  T-3074 Sea Stamps and TA-3238 Bless Your Heart, S-1900 Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, Copic Ciao Markers (Y06, Y38, Y21, YR68, B93, B95), V-290 Premium White,V-215 Black, V-49 Yellow Bazzill, & Periwinkle #2 Matchmakers cardstocks, F-73 Black Spiral Clip, and orange grosgrain ribbon. I used one of my Sizzix Texturz Plates in my Big Shot to emboss the dots on the Periwinkle cardstock.

Hope this gives you a little creative inpiration. Enjoy!

Introducing… “Scraps ‘n Stash”!

June 2nd, 2010 by Tracy

I’m starting several new weekly features here at Stamper Heaven, and today I’m introducing the first of these.

Welcome to the very first installment of Scraps ‘n Stash! Each week I’ll be showcasing stamped projects inspired by scraps of cardstock, left over stamped images, and any other goodies I may find in my studio’s stash! Because I’ll be using whatever I have on hand, some of the products may be retired or discontinued. But hopefully, I can inspire you to use what you have on hand in your own stamping stash!

This card is made up of a white cardstock panel that had been punched with my Clever Lever Scallop Punch, a tag from the retired Mimi Cardstock Collection, a Cupcake Paper Posey, Green Bazzill cardstock, and a piece of ribbon I had in my stash. (Unfortunately, the green card base doesn’t show up well in the photo. It is actually a much brighter green.)

I stamped the coffee cup from the TAC retired stamp set The Morning Buzz. I stamped the image with Cocoa Brown Memento Ink and then colored it in with Copic Markers. I ran a brown Copic Marker along the edge of the cardstock to bring out the scallop shape. The Cupcake Paper Posey started out as a light pink. I chose a Copic Marker close to the deep red in the ribbon and colored the Posey. I used a bright green on the center.

After adhering the stamped panel to the tag, I tied the tag with the ribbon, then attached the tag with Pop Dots to the card front. I then glued the ribbon down on the inside. I cut a white cardstock panel to line the inside of the card, which not only gives it a nice finished look, but also covers the ends of the ribbon.

As a side note, even though I have a system for storing cardstock scraps, left over die cuts, ribbon scraps, embellishments, etc., I always keep a small container for scraps in my work area. That way, I can keep my work area relatively clean & I don’t have to worry about putting every little thing a way when I just wind up with one or two extra items. You know, like when I accidently misplace a button or count out the wrong number of embellishments.

Happy Belated Mother’s Day!

May 25th, 2010 by Tracy

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I used die cut “remainders” from the Mother’s Day Cards I made, but realized I hadn’t posted photos, so here it is…

I used the retired TAC Mimi Cardstock Collection, R-2702 Simply Devine stamp set, V-42 Red/Violets and V-47 Greens Bazzill cardstocks, TT-194 Claret Palette ink & S-939 Key Lime VersaMagic Chalk ink. The letters were die-cut using my Sizzix Big Shot and Sizzix AlphaBuckles dies.
