Studio Re-Do Latest
As I said in yesterday’s post, I’ve been working on getting the studio finished up. I only have a couple more things to do, which I’m hoping will be done by the end of next week.
Anyway, I thought I’d share a nifty storage idea that came about because of one of the classes I took this Spring.
The class is called Art of the Book. (Way!) It’s an upper division required course for one of my majors, and we used a lot of handmade & large sheets of paper. I was having an awfully hard time trying not to get my paper wrinkled, dirty, torn, etc., when it occured to me that I had all this useable space behind my studio door. So, I had my hubby install some long screws & string wire to create supports.
This is a close-up of one of the screws. My hubby used masonry inserts as spacers so that there would be plenty of room for my paper goods.
Here’s a photo of my large paper storage in action. I use padded foam clothespins to hang the sheets of paper. They don’t damage the paper & they hold quite a few sheets at a time as well. I’ve actually added more sheets of paper since I took the photo, especially when I realized that this was a much better way to store all those rolls of mullberry paper I’ve been collecting for years!
This view gives you a better idea of how my paper storage is set-up. (You can see a peak into the living room.) The paper is tucked out of the way when the door to the studio is fully opened.
The metal “bulletin” board on the left is my postal center, which is the first thing you see when you walk into the studio. (I’ll be posting more on this area later.)
I’m really happy to have found such useful ways to maximize a small and akward space in the studio! You could something similiar to hang cards, photos, etc. At any rate, I hope these ideas inspire you in your organizing efforts.
